Walking in Montserrat

Another plan you should do if you are going to live in Barcelona is to go on an excursion to one of the most beautiful mountains in the province, the mountain of Montserrat, and its peculiar shape amazes all those who visit it.

This mountain is home to one of the oldest monasteries in Spain, as its beginnings date back to the year 888, where a virgin is worshiped who caused controversy in her time, because of her color, as the Virgin of Montserrat or in Catalan the Mare de Déu de Montserrat is black and is known as the Moreneta. It is said that this virgin has performed countless miracles for her most devoted followers who visit her.

One of the legends that the Moreneta has is that at some point they tried to move her to another church but she became so heavy that they could not get her down from the mountain and since then Montserrat has been her home and they have never tried to move her again.

If you want to find out more about Gaudí, you’ll also have to visit La Pedrera or Casa Milà and Casa Batlló, two of his most famous works as an architect.  These two houses are
